Welcome to the Newton Township Fire Department. I am humbled and honored to work alongside our firefighters, all of whom are committed to meeting the needs of our community. Our fire department takes great pride in the high level of professional and dedicated services we provide to the communities we serve.
As a full-service fire department, we provide a vast array of emergency, prevention, and education services. These include structural and wildland fire response, advanced life support medical transportation, and rescue operations responses. We provide life safety inspections and offer educational opportunities to our community members. Our State of Ohio Chartered training division conducts several initial fire and EMS, as well as continuing education courses, each year increasing the number of firefighters and EMS personnel for the communities of east central and southeastern Ohio.
The fire department also has two volunteer organizations that promote community events and charitable funding. The Newton Township Firefighter’s Association and the Newton Township Fire Auxiliary take pride in being active contributors to the community. These groups have formed partnerships with several youth entities to promote health and wellbeing throughout the community.
The fire department and its administrative staff are constantly seeking to enhance services, increase efficiency, and ensure the safety of both the community and our firefighters. We are committed to using resources and opportunities optimally. We’ve entered into several cooperative agreements with neighboring fire departments to establish emergency response plans in the communities that we serve. This allows for greater safety for the community and firefighters, while being fiscally responsible to our communities.
It takes all of us, including the community, to make a difference. I try to encourage the firefighters by following three principles: work hard, do what is right, and have fun. The fire department would not be what it is without the great men and women that make up the fire department, or the community that it serves.
Our department embraces the traditions passed down but also recognizes the need to constantly evolve as technology and times change. However, the one thing that will never change will be the commitment to serving our community with Pride, Honor, and Dedication.
Respectfully,
Craig Knox
Fire Chief
